edmund de alwis
Edmund’s role as a design engineer is first to understand customers’ current processes, and then to find ways of improving them through the design of new, more efficient and effective equipment, systems and solutions.
With a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Birmingham University, Edmund has extensive experience from a background in industrial design, including designing bridge construction equipment, forms for in situ concrete casting, hydraulic systems, automated assembly tooling, industrial boilers for the biomass industry, and food-processing equipment. A key project was designing a hygienic automatic batching system.
Edmund’s responsibilities have included R&D team leadership, project management, structural analysis of new designs, developing standard CAD models for future projects, and liaising with third parties to ensure designs comply with codes and standards. Collaborative and innovative, Edmund brings an analytical approach to problem solving and detailed task reporting to deliver successfully on project and business objectives.
